1. Leafy, shady recess formed by tree branches, shrubs, etc.
2. Latticework bower intertwined with climbing vines and flowers.

Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska City, Nebraska. ... Other states have selected the time of year in which to celebrate their own Arbor Day.
