Abbott S. Griggs and his brother-in-law operated Griggs and Ball Grain Mill in East Aurora. Griggs served as Town President for four years. Griggs ,Elbert Hubbard, Mrs. Seymour Knox and S. Harris Peeks founded the East Aurora Country Club.
Griggs bought the land at 871 East Main Street, corner of Elmwood, in 1892. The house was finished in 1893 or 1894 when the family moved in..
In 1895, a wedding took place in the house.
As is obvious from the photos, current owners Palmer and Sharon Pisle are renovating the house. They plan to open a B & B, the Palmer House at the Griggs Mansion, around the beginning of 2008.
