The Georgian House In 1973 the lease of No. 7 Charlotte Square expired, and the National Trust for Scotland decided to convert the ground floor, first floor and basement into a Georgian show house, displayed and arranged as it might have been when the house was first occupied in 1796.   ... appropriate furniture and equipment dating from the last quarter of the eighteenth century.  Broadly speaking, therefore, we have used items dating from the reign of George III, with particular emphasis on the period 1790-1810. The interior of No. 7 is perhaps one of the plainer ones in Charlotte Square. Not all the houses were built at once, and so long as the facade was uniform, what went ion behind was for the owner to decide.  There was no decorative plasterwork of any note in the house. The dining room contained the only original chimneypiece. Where possible, the original colour schemes were restored. - "The Georgian House," Introduction.  Brochure sold at the museum.
