Interior, Group 1 - Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood
St. Petersburg, Russia

There is not a single painting in the church.
Its walls are almost entirely covered with 7500 square meters of mosaics - perhaps more than any other church in the world.



The roped-off marble is the center of the 5-petal  immortelle flower plan.
Note the canopy at the far right: it is the spot where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in March 1881.
