- Born in Clarence, NY, in 1819.
- Son of a tanner.
- At age 25, formed partnership with George Howard, Bush &
Howard,sole leather dealers. Their success was such that both men
retired from active business after eight years, permitting sons of each
to continue the business.
- In later life, Bush helped develop several railroads, was once president of the Hannibal & St. Joseph [in Missouri].
- President of Marine Bank; a director of the Manufacturers & Traders Bank.
- Helped found the Buffalo Club; helped found the Buffalo Driving Park Assoc.
- Built the first house on NW corner of Delaware and Summer, # 762 Delaware.
- Married Margaret Westervelt.
- Had one daughter, Margaret and two sons, John Westervelt (b. 1844) and George.
